MA Elks Association - Spread the Word about Children’s Oral Health
At their Regional Meeting in November, The Massachusetts Elks Association announced it has joined forces with the “Watch Your Mouth Campaign” in spreading the word about the importance of children’s oral health. We ask each lodge in Massachusetts to join in the continuing to help the general public understand the importance of the connections between oral and overall health. Let the Elks in Massachusetts be a leader in educating the Public on the importance of Oral Health.
The objectives of the Watch Your Mouth Coalition are to:
• Educate the public that tooth decay is a disease, and is the most common childhood disease
• Educate the public about the connection between oral disease and diminished school performance
• Educate the public about the connection between oral health and overall health
• Advocate for wider access to preventive services, such as dental sealants and fluoride, and regular dental exams for all children
• Engage citizens to speak up for children's oral health
For more information our MA Elks State Coordinator is Rachel Unwin, who is a member of the Middleboro Lodge #1274. Lodges are asked to include this program with their Youth Activities Programs, Soccer/Hoop Shoots, Children’s Parties, Dictionary Program Presentations, etc., Rachel will provide you with materials for your lodge to pass out at any of these events, just contact her in advance for items to hand out. This is another great way of getting the name of Elks out to the public and providing awareness of oral health in children. And the best part, all this is free, all that is asked of us is to help get the word out.
To contact her for more information and packets to pass out at any of your youth activity events:
